SMART Launches New Mobile App
Transit is SMART’s new mobile app for navigating public transit and receiving rider alerts.
The app helps riders navigate the SMART system, as well as other North Bay transit systems and destinations beyond. SMART riders will automatically receive a free upgrade to Royale, the premium subscription in the Transit, unlocking full access to enhanced features.
The Transit app provides a single, easy-to-use platform for SMART and other North Bay transit services, where riders can access schedules, trip planning, real-time arrivals, and service alerts in one place. Notifications can also be personalized so riders receive updates most relevant to their travel times and routes.
What are the Transit app features?
Plan your trip. Track your ride. View transit services as soon as you open the app.
Real-time vehicle locations on the map. Transit has real-time information for local transit services to help you get around the region.
Find the fastest way. Combine bus service with walking, biking, and other transport options – right from Transit’s trip planner.
Step-by-step guidance with GO. Tap GO to be reminded when to leave, when to transfer, and when to get off the train. Subscribe to push notifications so you know when you’re almost there and when you’ve arrived.
Help out your fellow riders. With GO crowdsourcing, you can share real-time reports on crowding and accessibility and boost the accuracy of real-time info for fellow riders.
Service alerts. Train delay? Holiday schedule? Find out before you leave. View service alerts in Transit, or subscribe to receive push notifications for your favorite routes.
Other North Bay transportation coordination efforts include the Marin-Sonoma Coordinated Transit Service Plan (MASCOTS) a collaborative project between MTC and nine transit and funding agencies to create a more connected, frequent transit network.
MASCOTS is focused on making travel more efficient between Sonoma and Marin counties, as well as to and from San Francisco. Transit riders can expect shorter travel times and cost savings thanks to frequent bus and SMART rail service, along with easy transfers along the U.S. 101 and SMART corridor.
