Miles Horton, Legislative Policy & Community Engagement Manager, Sonoma Clean Power
As the Legislative Policy & Community Engagement Manager at Sonoma Clean Power, a proud member of North Bay Leadership Council, Miles represents in his organization in the state Capitol and leverages their unique position on the cutting edge of the energy transition to help inform policy discussions around clean energy, infrastructure buildout, electric rates, and more. Sonoma Clean Power has taken an active role sponsoring legislation and budgetary proposals at the state level, focused on building a more cost-effective and competitive electric grid that can integrate renewable energy and advanced technologies faster. Miles also helps lead community and stakeholder engagement efforts for Sonoma Clean Power’s GeoZone initiative, working to build support for local, reliable next-generation geothermal power.
Prior to joining Sonoma Clean Power, Miles spent seven years working in the California Legislature as an aide to State Senator Scott Wiener and later Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas. He had previously worked at the Sierra Club as well as on a number of political campaigns around the Bay Area. He is a graduate of Williams College, where he majored in Political Economy. In his spare time, Miles enjoys hiking, reading, and birdwatching. In fact, this month he is headed to Michigan and Minnesota for a birdwatching trip to try and see rare warblers, owls, and other exciting species.
